LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Zach Allen along with Deputy Matt Walker arrested William Overbey, age 39, of Pine Grove School Rd., London on Tuesday afternoon February 11, 2025 at approximately 2:55 PM.
The arrest occurred on Byble Road, approximately 3 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a complaint that a male subject had allegedly kicked in the door of his ex-girlfriends house forcing her to stay inside the residence.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they made contact with the female victim who advised, the suspect – William Overbey had just left the residence walking.
The victim also advised that Overbey had kicked in the front door of her residence and held her hostage. The victim's mother was also present at the time of the incident and confirmed the details of the incident.
Deputies canvassed the area and located Overbey walking in the vicinity and continued their investigation determining that this individual was under the influence.
In addition, it was determined that this individual had not lived at this residence since November 2024 and was evicted.
Deputies also noted that since March 2024 deputies had received 30 complaints through 911 dispatch at this residence for this individual.
William Overbey was charged with:
- Burglary – third-degree
- Criminal mischief – second-degree
- Unlawful imprisonment – second-degree
- Public intoxication – controlled substances
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
