WOOTON, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at approx. 3:32 A.M, KSP Post 13, Hazard, received a call for assistance from the Leslie County Sheriff's Office, in reference to a shooting complaint on Cutshin Road located in the Wooton community of Leslie County.
Upon the arrival of KSP units, Mary M. Andrews, 49, of London, was located at the residence with a gunshot wound. Ms. Andrews was transported to Mary Breckinridge hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Andrews' boyfriend William E. Pennington, 54, of Wooton, KY discharged a handgun striking the victim.
Pennington was placed under arrest and lodged into the Leslie County Detention Center.
William Pennington was charged with:
- Manslaughter 1st Degree
