TENNESSEE MAN ARRESTED IN OHIO COUNTY, KENTUCKY AFTER PURSUIT THAT BEGAN ON INTERSTATE 165 NEAR OWENSBORO

OWENSBORO, KY — On Monday, July 22, 2024, Just after 6:00 pm, Kentucky State Police (KSP) received a call from a traveling motorist regarding a reckless and speeding driver on I-165, just south of Owensboro.

The caller described the reckless vehicle as a blue Dodge pick-up truck.

A stationary KSP trooper on I-165 observed the speeding blue Dodge truck and attempted to stop the truck for the violation. The truck continued and would not stop for the trooper. The pursuit exited off I-165 onto US 60 By-pass and then to KY 54 east. The driver of the truck continued on KY 54 to Ditto Road and Little Hickory Roads. Other troopers assisted in the pursuit and ultimately stopped the fleeing truck in Ohio County. The driver was arrested without incident.

The operator was identified as George M. Scott, 48 of Lawrenceburg, TN.  He was arrested and transported to Daviess County Detention Center in Owensboro.

George Scott was charged by Kentucky State Police with the following offenses:

  • Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree
  • Fleeing/Evading 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
  • Speeding
  • Reckless Driving
  • Operating Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol
