KENTUCKY STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN CONNECTION TO THE SHOOTING OF TENNESSEE HIGHWAY PATROL TROOPER

PRINCETON, KY — Kentucky State Police (KSP) report that KSP Post 2 Troopers arrested Braze Rucker early Sunday morning July 21st at a residence in Princeton, KY.

The arrest was in reference to the July 19, 2024, shooting of Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Trooper Adam Cothron, in Putnam County, TN. Trooper Cothron (THP) conducted a traffic stop on I-40, at mile marker 285, near the Burgess Falls exit, occupied by two males. 

During the interaction, Trooper Cothron was shot and the subjects fled in the vehicle. Trooper Cothron was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he is in stable condition.

Braze Rucker, a 29-year-old, black male was identified as one of the occupants in the vehicle. The THP and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) obtained warrants for his arrest. At 3:13 A.M., KSP Troopers located and arrested Rucker inside a residence in Princeton, KY.

KSP was assisted by the ATF, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Hopkinsville Police Department.

On Tuesday night July 23, 2024, authorities arrested the 2nd suspect, Timothy Laquan Davis, Jr., age 25, in Nashville, TN without incident. Davis is allegedly the individual who was driving the suspect vehicle and also shot THP Trooper Adam Cothron.
