Suspect Located in Middle of Roadway Arrested during Complaint Investigation in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Nate Bishop arrested Clyde Smallwood age 72 of London on Saturday night June 29, 2024 at approximately 8:25 PM.

LSO logo BLACKandGOLD John Root 200The arrest occurred on Little Arthur Ridge Road, approximately 5 miles north London after Deputy Bishop was dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communications Ctr. to a complaint that a male subject who was apparently intoxicated was trying to fight everyone there.

Upon arrival at the scene Deputy Bishop located the suspect in the middle of the roadway and noted detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from him.

Following an investigation this individual was determined to be under the influence and was arrested.

Clyde Smallwood was charged with:

  • Alcohol intoxication in a public place

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting at the scene or Laurel Sheriff's office was: Deputy Daniel Reed, and Deputy Matt Walker. Also assisting was Kentucky State Police and the Constable's office.
