LONDON, KY - Laurel/Knox Commonwealth Attorney Jackie Steele, Laurel County Sheriff John Root, and London Police Chief Chuck Johnson report that on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, an accused drug trafficker was convicted in a jury trial in Laurel Circuit Court. This case was the result of Laurel County Drug Task Force investigations.
London native, Freddie Scalf Sr., age 64 (left) was convicted for:
- Trafficking 1st Degree - Methamphetamine < 2 grams
- Being a Persistent Felony Offender in the 1st Degree
The trial stemmed from an early 2023 investigation by the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force involving the purchase of methamphetamine from Scalf.
Scalf had previously been convicted of;
- Manufacturing Methamphetamine
- Facilitation of Manufacturing Methamphetamine
- Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) going back to 2004 in both Laurel and Rockcastle Counties
This current conviction requires Scalf serve a minimum of 10 years before he is eligible for parole. The case was prosecuted by veteran Asst. Commonwealth Attorney Michael D. Pratt.
