DRIVER ARRESTED AND ILLEGAL DRUGS LOCATED AFTER K-9 CONDUCTS FREE AIR SNIFF OF VEHICLE IN PULASKI CO., KENTUCKY

SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports that on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, a Pulaski County woman was taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant.

The incident began when Detectives with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division began receiving information that Kellie Walters Morrow, age 48, was trafficking in large quantities of methamphetamine and Fentanyl from a residence on Cardinal Drive.

Detectives began conducting surveillance on the residence.

On May 13, Detectives applied for a search warrant, for the residence, based on the information discovered during the investigation. Detectives forced entry into the residence, when no one answered the door, while executing the search warrant.

Upon searching the residence, Detectives located approximately 181.3 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 16.2 grams of Fentanyl, approximately 24.2 grams of marijuana, suspected Fentanyl pills, digital scales, baggies, and various paraphernalia.

Walters was not at the residence and was not taken into custody.

On May 26, 2024 Detectives with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division was working interdiction in the area of North 1247 and University Drive. Detective Tan Hudson observed a blue Kia sedan, fail to stop at the stop sign. The vehicle was being operated by Kellie Walters-Morrow.

Detective Hudson conducted a stop of the vehicle. Detective Trent Massey arrived on scene with his K-9, Leo to assist. Detective Massey deployed Leo to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle.

Following the walk around the vehicle, Detective Massey determined his K-9 alerted the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. Detectives ordered Walters out of the vehicle and she refused to exit, initially, but was eventually removed from the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and Detectives located approximately 1.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 31.5 Oxycodone, 9 Hydrocodone, 7 Clonazepam tablets, baggies, and digital scales. Detectives located approximately 7.5 grams of methamphetamine in the floor of the vehicle which Morrow admitted she dumped in the floor.

Following the stop of the vehicle, Detectives, again, conducted a search warrant at the Cardinal Drive residence. Upon executing the search warrant, Detectives located 42 suspected Xanax bars, baggies, and digital scales.

Kellie Walters-Morrow was arrested and charged with the following:

• Disregarding Stop Sign
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine)
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (> or = 10 D.U opiates)
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (< 10 D.U. drug unspecified opiates)
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 2nd Offense (> or = 20 D.U. drug unspecified)
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 3rd Degree 2nd Offense (<20 D.U. drug unspecified)
• Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8oz) 2nd Offense
• Tampering with Physical Evidence
• Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possess

On June 13, 2024, Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley secured an arrest warrant for Walters-Morrow, stemming from the original search warrant on May 13.

Walters-Morrow was charged with the following additional charges:

• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (Methamphetamine)
• Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree 2nd Offense (Carfentanil of Fentanyl)
• Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8oz) 2nd Offense
• Drug Paraphernalia-Buy/Possess

Walters-Morrow was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Lieutenant Daryl Kegley. The Narcotics Division was assisted by the Patrol Division and, DCBS.
