FRANKFORT, KY – Attorney General Coleman announced that action by the Attorney General's Special Prosecutions Unit resulted in the sentencing of Terry Wagers, 44, of Manchester for a deadly shooting in 2020.
In September 2020, Wagers killed Johnny Lynn Curry by shooting him twice with a handgun. Wagers pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter First Degree (Class B Felony).
As part of the April 2024 plea agreement, Wagers was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He is ineligible for probation and must serve 85% of his sentence to be parole eligible.
"This brutal killing tore a Kentucky family apart. Our Office is dedicated to collaborating with law enforcement to take on the scourge of violent crime and keep Kentucky communities safe," said Attorney General Coleman.
The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Manchester City Police. Assistant Attorney General Amanda Morgan prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth.
