MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that at around 2:00 AM Tuesday morning February 27, 2024, Sgt. Wes Brumley attempted a traffic stop on a white Toyota car driving recklessly on Beech Creek Road.
The vehicle did not stop and proceeded to flee.
Sgt. Brumley was joined by Manchester PD Officer Derek Carr in the pursuit.
The fleeing vehicle continued onto Little Beech Creek Road where the passenger bailed from the moving vehicle.
Sgt. Brumley and MPD Officer Carr stopped and apprehended Kendall M. Boynton, age 30 of Dalton, GA.
Sgt. Brumley continued pursuing the fleeing vehicle until it stopped at a dead end.
The driver fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, Cedric K. Shropshire, age 47 of Calhoun, GA was apprehended.
An investigation was conducted and a large sum of U.S. Currency along with over 6 lbs. of methamphetamine was found in their possession and seized.
Both Boyton and Shropshire were arrested and transported to the Clay County Detention Center.

Kendall Boynton was charged with:
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (< 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center. According to jail records, bond is set at $75,000 CASH.

Cedric Shropshire was charged with:
- CARELESS DRIVING
- RECKLESS DRIVING
- FAILURE TO OR IMPROPER SIGNAL
- FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 1ST DEGREE (MOTOR VEHICLE)
- FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 2ND DEGREE (ON FOOT)
- RESISTING ARREST
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (< 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center. According to jail records, bond is set at $75,000.00 CASH
