HYDEN, KY - Leslie County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Saturday, February 17, 2024, Chief Deputy Shane Wilson was patrolling Coots Hollow Road after receiving a tip about drug trafficking.
Deputy Wilson observed a white car with one tail light. After conducting a traffic stop, the driver, identified as Jonah Davis, age 38 could not produce a drivers license.
Leslie County 911 advised that the driver, Jonah Davis was suspended and had an active warrant for his arrest.
During the traffic stop a white crystal substance suspected to be methamphetamine was located on the driver weighing approximately 10.23 grams along with a clear glass pipe and U.S. currency.
In addition, a hand gun, digital scales and other drugs were located. Davis is a convicted felon. This subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Leslie County Detention Center.
Jonah Davis was charged with:
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
- POSS CONT SUB, 2ND DEGREE - DRUG UNSPECIFIED
- POSSESSION OF HANDGUN BY CONVICTED FELON
- NO TAIL LAMPS,,OPERATING ON SUS OR REV OPER LICENSE
- LICENSE TO BE IN POSSESSION
- DRUG PARAPHERNALIA - BUY/POSSESS
In addition this subject was wanted on an active warrant of arrest for:
- FAILURE TO APPEAR
This individual was lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.
