LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Laurel County Sheriff John Root arrested Michael Gail West age 70 of London on Tuesday night January 23, 2024 at approximately 8:25 PM.
The arrest occurred on Left Fork fisherman's Cove Road, approximately 3 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle possible injury traffic crash there.
It was reported that the vehicle was over an embankment and on its side.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies noted observing a silver Chevrolet Silverado on its side and after the driver was removed from the vehicle by fire personnel there, Sgt. Mehler noted detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver.
An investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence.
Michael Gail West was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense.
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
