London, KY- Sheriff John Root and Chief Chuck Johnson are reporting: On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at approximately 1:34 A.M, law enforcement officers from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and the London Police Department responded to a residence on River Road in reference to a domestic.
Officers on scene were able to make initial contact at the residence and while investigating the domestic, were met by resistance by an involved male.
The male, identified as James Reed, was able to slam the door to the residence on the officers prior to them completing their investigation and confirming the safety of a female who was on scene.
Officers made numerous attempts to establish communication and cooperation of the male so that the safety of the female could be established.
Once communication could not be established with the female, the Southeast Regional KY SRT (Special Response Team) was notified and requested to respond.
At approximately 5:09 A.M., a search and arrest warrant was completed for Reed and then executed by SRT. The female was located and removed from the residence unharmed.
In addition, Reed was taken into custody without further incident and placed under arrest.
At this time the investigation is currently ongoing.
James Reed was charged with:
- Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree
