SOMERSET, KY - Sheriff Bobby Jones reports a single vehicle collision on December 15, 2023 that has left one Pulaski County juvenile dead.
On Friday, December 15, 2023 at approximately 11:02 pm, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of 15200 N. Hwy 1247 on a report of a motor vehicle collision.
According to the person calling for assistance, a 2001 white Lincoln passenger car struck a utility pole. The caller also told Pulaski County 911 that it appeared as though at least one person in the accident was entrapped.
All occupants of the vehicle were determined to be juveniles by responding deputies.
Two of the occupants were air lifted from the scene and transported to emergency medical facilities for treatment of injuries.
The third occupant was later transported by family to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
One occupant has been pronounced deceased at this time by the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Through investigation into the accident, the decedent is not believed to have been the driver of the vehicle.
Although the investigation into the collision is ongoing, alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
The investigation into this collision, and subsequent death investigation, is being conducted by Deputy Evan Whitis with the assistance of SGT Alex Wesley and Detective Ryan Jones.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Somerset/Pulaski County EMS, the Eubank Fire Department, Pulaski County Rescue Squad and the Science Hill Police Department. Further investigative assistance was provided by the Pulaski County Attorney’s Office and the University of Kentucky Police Department.
