LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel sheriff’s K-9/Shift Sgt. Gary Mehler arrested Elmo Scruggs age 58 of Hyden on Thursday December 14th, 2023 at approximately 6:35 P.M.
The arrest occurred on Highway 3094, 4 miles north of London after this subject was charged on a Leslie County Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:
- Sexual abuse – first-degree – victim under 12 years of age
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Elmo Scruggs
According to the Laurel County Correctional Center JailTracker, Scruggs was booked into the facility at 7:29:00 PM on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 7:29:00 PM and released at 9:13:05 AM on Friday, December 15, 2023.
Upon release from the Laurel County Correctional Center, Elmo Scruggs was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Leslie County Detention Center in Hyden, KY. where he was lodged on the Leslie County Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest that the Laurel County Sheriff's Office charged him with Thursday evening on Highway 3094 in Laurel County.
