LONDON, KY - The London Police Department is reporting that on Saturday, October 7, 2023, Ofc. Daugherty arrested Van Kerry Vinson age 62, of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Ofc. Daugherty received a complaint from the London Dispatch Center in reference to a possible intoxicated driver who had been waiting to pull onto KY-192 and was slumped over the wheel.
As Ofc. Daugherty arrived on scene, he was notified the vehicle had crossed KY-192 and was pulled over on the shoulder.
Ofc. Daugherty located the vehicle on the shoulder and conducted a welfare check on the driver, identified as Van Kerry Vinson, age 62, of Indianapolis, IN.
While making contact with Mr. Vinson, Ofc. Daugherty noted he smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and the driver had extremely slurred speech, droopy eyes and was very lethargic.
During the investigation, Ofc. Daugherty determined, Mr. Vinson was under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest and transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Van Vinson was charged with:
- OPER MTR VEHICLE U/INFL ALC .08 (189A.010(1A) - 1ST (AGG CIR)
- POSS OF OPEN ALC BEVERAGE CONT IN MOTOR VEH PROHIBITED
- NO REGISTRATION PLATES
- NO REGISTRATION RECEIPT
- FAILURE OF OWNER TO MAINTAIN REQUIRED INS/SEC, 1ST OFF
- FAILURE TO PRODUCE INSURANCE CARD
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
According to JailTracker, Vinson was released on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 12:16:41 PM and has a court date set for December 5, 2023 at 9:30 AM.
