ACCORDING TO THIS RELEASE, MORE ARRESTS ARE ANTICIPATED SINCE ADDITIONAL CO-CONSPIRATORS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED
LONDON, KY (September 8, 2023) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson announce that: On Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, a lengthy investigation by the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force into a drug trafficking ring in Laurel County resulted in the arrest of a southeast Kentucky man and the seizure of firearms and over 2 lbs. of Methamphetamine.
A prior felon, Henderson Leon Day Jr. age 61 of London, KY was apprehended at Exit 38 off Interstate 75 in London as he returned from a trip to Louisville, KY where he acquired 2 lbs. of Methamphetamine.
Meth and Weapons Seized (Laurel County Sheriff's Office)
The Task Force followed up the arrest with a search of Day's residence that yielded:
- 1 stolen firearm
- A second firearm
- A smaller amount of Methamphetamine
An additional approximate 1 lb. of Methamphetamine was seized during the last few weeks as the investigation progressed.
Additional co-conspirators have been identified and more arrests are anticipated in the coming weeks.
Henderson Leon Day Jr. was charged with:
- Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree
Day was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
