LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Jessica Lawson age 28 of Lick Fork Rd., Barbourville, KY on Friday afternoon September 1, 2023 at approximately 1:45 PM.
The arrest occurred off John R Jones Road approximately 9 miles west of London after Deputy Houston was dispatched to investigate a complaint of a male and female subject attempting to steal an ATV there.
Upon arrival at the scene Deputy Houston learned that apparently a female subject created a distraction with a home owner while a male subject attempted to take an ATV.
Allegedly, the ATV quit running at the end of the driveway and both the male and female subject fled the scene.
Deputy Houston canvassed the area and was able to locate the female subject allegedly involved.
Jessica Lawson was charged with:
- Theft by unlawful taking – $1000 or more but under $10,000
- Criminal trespassing – third-degree
In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – motor vehicle
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Deputy Houston developed information on the male subject who fled on the ATV and a warrant of arrest has been obtained for this individual who has not been located yet.
