Deputies Arrest Adults, Social Services Remove Children from a Residence in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Josh Velasco along with K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler arrested two individuals on Wednesday night August 16, 2023 at approximately 8:29 PM.

The arrests occurred off Osborne Lane, at a residence there approximately 5 miles west of London while deputies were accompanying social services on a referral complaint.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies noted two adults and four children two of which were underage living in deplorable living conditions.

Deputies further noted that the house had structural damage with holes in the roof exposing it to outside elements due to a prior fire there.

The house had no electricity, no running water and garbage laying throughout the floors in the residence. The two individuals arrested were identified as: Charlotte Broyles age 22 and Daniel Clontz age 24, both of London, KY.

Charlotte Broyles was charged with:

  • 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor

Daniel Clontz was charged with:

  • 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor

The children were removed from the residence by social services.

The two arrested individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
