FELONY ARREST AFTER DRIVER ATTEMPTS TO HIDE DRUGS DURING INVESTIGATION AT TRAFFIC STOP ON KENTUCKY 1394 IN LAUREL COUNTY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that:  Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Richard Henry Ehlers, JR age 48 of Hensley Road, East Bernstadt on Sunday afternoon June 11, 2023 at approximately 1:01 PM.

The arrest occurred on KY 1394 approximately 6 miles north of London after Deputy Houston observed a white Ford F-250 pickup fail to come to a complete stop at an intersection and the vehicle was observed with only one tail light.

Deputy Houston conducted a traffic stop and during the resulting investigation found the driver in possession of suspected Methamphetamine, pills, and a suspected Meth pipe.

During the investigation this individual attempted to hide the drugs and pipe.

Richard Ehlers

Richard Henry Ehlers, JR was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a controlled substance – third-degree
  • Illegal possession of a legend drug
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting arrest
  • Tampering with physical evidence

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting at the scene of the arrest and investigation were: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner, London City Police Officer Dylan Messer and London Police Officer Brent France.
