LONDON, KY (June 2, 2023) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson announce that: On Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 2:00 A.M. the Laurel County “Drug Interdiction” Task Force conducted an investigation on the driver of a BMW at a traffic safety checkpoint in northern Laurel County.
The driver was found in possession of:
- Approximately 1 pound of Methamphetamine
- 2 ounces of Fentanyl
- A firearm
Arrested was: Khalil M. Washington age 25 of Lexington, KY who was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center pending federal prosecution.
Khalil Washington is charged with:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – Fentanyl
- Possession of Drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a handgun by a Convicted felon
