KUTTAWA, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is reporting that KSP Post 1, Mayfield is investigating a Wednesday evening collision that claimed the life of a Lyon County man. KSP Post 1 was notified at around 7:15 P.M. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 of a collision on KY-93 N involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle.
Troopers responded to the scene and began an investigation.
The Initial investigation revealed that Newton Holt, 67 years old of Kuttawa, KY, was operating a 2002 Dodge 1500 pickup truck northbound on KY-93 N.
Sean King, 28 years old of Kuttawa, KY, was riding a bicycle northbound on KY-93 N.
Due to reasons believed to be related to sun-glare, Mr. Holt reported not seeing Mr. King on the roadway. Mr. Holt’s vehicle struck Mr. King’s bicycle.
Mr. King was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mr. Holt did not report any injuries.
KSP was assisted by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Eddyville Police Department, Lyon County EMS, and the Lyon County Coroner.
