JACKSON COUNTY, OR (May 10, 2023) - The Oregon State Police (OSP) is reporting that on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at approximately 1:29 P.M., OSP responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 238, near milepost 28, in Jackson County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a BMW motorcycle, operated by Bryce Beal (56) of Medford, was traveling westbound on Highway 238. The Motorcycle lost control while negotiating a corner and traveled into the eastbound lane. The motorcycle was struck by an on-coming Jeep Wrangler, operated by James Sweeney (61) of Vail, CO.
The operator of the motorcycle (Beal) was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Jeep (Sweeney) and passenger, Terry Dinkin (61) of Vail, CO, were not injured.
The highway was impacted for 3 hours during the on-scene crash investigation.
OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, the Medford Police Department, and ODOT.
