SEATTLE, WA - A Seattle Police officer responded to reports of a man shooting several rounds from a car when he heard sounds of gunfire in the South Park neighborhood Friday night.
Police arrived just after 09:00 p.m. near the intersection of 8th Avenue South and South Cloverdale Street*. Officers located a woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her forearm. Officers applied a tourniquet while waiting for Seattle Fire Department personnel to arrive. The 54-year-old victim was a passenger in car driving eastbound in the area when struck by the shots fired.
While on scene, police learned of a second victim. A 25-year-old female victim who was in a nearby residence sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her back from a projectile that came through a window.
SFD provided medical assistance to both victims and later transported them to Harborview Medical Center. Neither victims were associated with the shooting but in the area when shots were fired.
Police searched for a suspect and a suspect car, a white sedan type vehicle, but did not locate either. Officers recovered shell casings and impounded the car with ballistic damage for further processing.
Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives will continue to investigate this case.
