LONDON, KY (September 28, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor arrested Robert Arlan Havens, JR and Kimberly Dawn Lee age early Tuesday morning September 28, 2021 at approximately 3:33 AM.
The arrest occurred after deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a red Ford Mustang for a traffic violation.
After deputies activated their emergency equipment, the Mustang failed to stop accelerating from a business parking lot onto West Cumberland Gap Parkway traveling at speeds more than 98 mph and in a reckless manner.
The suspect vehicle eventually turned onto a dirt trail traveling into a heavily wooded area and hit a tree laying across the roadway causing the suspect vehicle to stop.
A male driver and female passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot and were located in a creek in the area.
The driver was found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and had numerous outstanding warrants. The passenger had an outstanding warrant.
The two arrested individuals were identified as:
Robert Arlan Havens, JR age 43 of Cumberland Falls Highway, Corbin, KY charged with:
- Wanton endangerment – first-degree
- Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
- Resisting arrest
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – third offense – Methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – motor vehicle
Also, this individual was charged on a Whitley District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
This subject was also charged on a Laurel Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging a drug court violation regarding charges of:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
Also, this individual was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging a probation violation regarding charges of:
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
Kimberly Dawn Lee age 45 of Walnut Ave., Corbin, KY charged on a Laurel Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
