Suspects regarding stolen Jewelry/Cash apprehended on Dripping Springs Road in Knox County, Ky.

HINKLE, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Monday, June 15, 2020 at approximately 7:05 PM Deputy Bobby Jones was dispatched to a theft complaint at a residence on Dripping Springs Road in Hinkle.

Deputy Jones was notified by Knox Dispatch that the suspects had left the residence in a blue Chevy Malibu. Deputy Jones observed the vehicle traveling on Dripping Springs Road.

Deputy Jones stopped the vehicle, identified the occupants and instructed them to return with him to the residence.

After talking with the victim, Deputy Jones learned that over ten thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry along with approximately $1,100 in cash and two pocketbooks had been taken.

Deputy Jones located the stolen jewelry, over $300 in cash and the two pocketbooks inside the vehicle and on the person of Susan Smith.

Arrested by Deputy Bobby Jones was:

Susan Smith age 43 of Hinkle, KY charged with:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-over $10,000

Darrell Smith age 41 of Hinkle, KY charged with:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-over $10,000
  • No Operators License

During the arrests twenty-five Gabapentin tablets were discovered in their possession. Both were then charged with:

  • Possession Controlled Substance-3rd Degree

Darrell and Susan Smith were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
