House Fire claims life of a teenager in Corbin, Kentucky

CORBIN, KY -  (May 11, 2020) – The Kentucky State Police, Harlan Post is investigating a fatal house fire in the Corbin area of Knox County. KSP Post 10 received a call at 3:11 a.m. on May 11, 2020 from the Knox County Sheriff's Dept. requesting assistance at Cedar Bluff Lane reference to a fire investigation. Trooper Sidney Wagner and Det. Rodney Sturgill responded to the scene to begin and investigation.

The initial investigation indicates a double wide trailer caught fire early Monday morning. First responders responded and located a 16 year old male juvenile deceased inside of the home.

The Knox County Coroner was notified and responded to the scene.

The juvenile lived at the home with his aunt and her boyfriend. Both adults were taken to Corbin Baptist Health Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and KSP doesn't suspect foul play at this time.

The ongoing death investigation is being conducted by Det. Rodney Sturgill.

Also assisting at the scene were Knox County Sheriff's Dept, West Knox and Bailey Switch Fire Departments and Knox County Coroner Office.
