Driver Uninjured in Crash that Ripped Engine from Vehicle & Destroyed 7 Sections of Guardrail

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller arrested Scott B. Hibbard age 40 of Manchester on Sunday evening April 26, 2020 at approximately 5:30 PM.

The arrest occurred on Hal Rogers Parkway approximately 9 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic crash there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies located the driver sitting in the back seat and conducted an investigation on a gray colored Buick there determining that the driver was under the influence. Deputies investigation determined that the vehicle was apparently westbound when it left the roadway striking 7 sections of guard railing and posts destroying them, and ripped the engine from the vehicle.

The driver was uninjured.

Scott B. Hibbard was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense
  • No registration plates
  • No registration receipt
  • Failure to produce insurance card

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
