DUI arrest of Wanted Subject at Apparent Traffic Crash in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. (December 31, 2019) - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Jonathan W. Bowling age 29 of East Bernstadt early Sunday morning December 29, 2019 at approximately 3:31 AM.

The arrest occurred on KY 1376 approximately 5 miles north of London while Deputy Houston was on routine patrol and observed a white colored GM Sierra that appeared to be involved in a non-injury traffic crash at the intersection of KY. 1376 and Little Arthur Ridge Road.

Deputy Houston activated his emergency equipment stopping at the scene and was encountered by the driver who was belligerent.

An investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence. In addition, it was learned that this subject was wanted on an outstanding bench warrant of arrest.

Jonathan Bowling was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
  • Failure of nonowner operator to maintain required insurance – first offense
  • Numerous other violations

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a controlled substance – third-degree
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting arrest
  • Three counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense

This individual lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
