DUI arrest on South Highway 421 in Clay County

Clay County, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2019) -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on September 20, 2019 at approximately 12:40 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Edwards arrested Heather Smith, 41 of South Highway 11.

The arrest occurred when Deputy Edwards conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for infractions on South Highway 421.

Upon initial contact with the driver, she stated that she did not have her license with her. Through confirmation with Clay County Dispatch it was shown that the driver had a suspended license.

The driver also provided Deputy Edwards with false identifying information.

Inside the vehicle in plain sight Deputy Edwards located residue, the driver stated she was in possession of syringes. Through investigation it was determined that the subject was under the influence.

Heather Smith was charged with:

• Rear License Not Illuminated
• No-Expired Registration Receipt
• No-Expired Registration Plate
• License to be in Possession
• Operating on Suspended or Revoked License
• Giving Officer False Name
• Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess
• Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of ALC/DRUGS/ETC.
