5 Arrests / 1 Subject held on $1,000,000 Cash Bond as “War on Drugs” continues in Laurel County

More arrests are expected as this case continues to be investigated

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root Along with Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards, Detective James Sizemore, Detective Bryon Lawson, and Detective Kyle Gray arrested five individuals the past two days in Laurel County following a drug investigation and the execution of a search warrant at a residence off Bryant's Way, approximately 3 miles west of London.

Arrests 8 25 19 Contraband

On Sunday night August 25, 2019, Sheriff's office investigators located two suspects along with a large amount of Meth, digital scales, and baggies at the residence. One suspect attempted to hide Methamphetamine as investigators conducted their search.

Two additional suspects were observed leaving the residence off Bryant’s Way in a white colored Toyota Corolla. A traffic stop was conducted nearby where the two occupants were found in possession of Methamphetamine.

In addition, investigators also learned that a 5th person had allegedly sold Methamphetamine at the residence on Bryant's Way.

The five arrested individuals were identified as:

Ashley L. Jackson age 40 of Bryant's Way, London charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Engaging in organized crime
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Tampering with physical evidence.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center and is being held on a One Million-Dollar Cash Bond.

Jessica Karr age 33 of Laurel Lake Road, London charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

The individual who allegedly delivered Methamphetamine to the residence on Bryant's Way:

Shane C. Botkins age 44 of Curry Road, London charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

The two individuals who were occupants in a white colored Toyota Corolla observed leaving the residence as investigators arrived:

Christopher Burkhart age 24 of Highway 552, Keavy charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

Dakota B. Arnold age 23 of Keavy Road, Keavy charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

All five individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Also assisting on the investigation and arrests were: Maj. Chuck Johnson, Lieut. Robbie Grimes, Deputy Travis Napier, Deputy Allen Turner, Deputy Joey Robinson, Deputy Jake Miller and his K-9”Gotcha”, Deputy Gary Mehler and his K-9”Edge”, Sgt. Greg Poynter, and CSO Sean Hayre.

Sheriff John Root stated that the “War on Drugs” continues in Laurel County.

More arrests are expected as this case continues to be investigated.
