Pursuit arrest in northern Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joey Robinson along with Deputy Allen Turner arrested Dakota W. Mullins age 27 of Love Rd., London on Friday night August 23, 2019 at approximately 8:39 PM.

The arrest occurred off railroad tracks approximately 6 miles north of London after deputies attempted a traffic stop on a green colored GMC Sierra on Highway 1376 off Highway 490. After deputies activated their emergency equipment, the vehicle failed to stop, speeding up traveling down Litton town Road where a train was blocking the Rail Road crossing there.

The suspect vehicle then traveled along a graveled lane that runs along side the railroad tracks or approximately 2 miles. The suspect then attempted to cross the railroad tracks losing control crashing into a tunnel wall there.

The suspect then fled on foot through the woods and across a creek there.

Deputies found the suspect hiding behind a log and a scuffle occurred where the suspect attempted to wrestle one of the deputy’s weapon away from him, however, the suspect was taken into custody.

Dakota W Mullins was charged with:

  • Attempting to disarm a peace officer
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot
  • Reckless driving
  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree
  • Resisting arrest
  • Menacing
  • Two counts of wanton endangerment – second-degree – police officer is victim
  • Failure to wear seatbelts

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
