Complaint lands Hitchhiker behind bars in Clay County

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on July 24, 2019 at 12:00 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston arrested David Griffie, 28 of South Highway 421.

The arrest occurred when Deputy Houston was dispatched to a complaint of a male individual on the Hal Rogers Parkway attempting to flag down traffic.

Deputy Houston made contact with the individual approximately 6 miles, at which time the male subject gave falsifying information multiple times to Deputy Houston with intent to hide his identity.

Through investigation Deputy Houston was able to obtain the true identity of the individual. 

David Griffie was charged with:

  • Giving Officer False Name or Address
  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
  • Hitchhiking- Disregard Traffic Regulation by Pedestrian
