Clay Deputies patrolling South Highway 11 arrest 2 on drug offenses

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on July 24, 2019 at approximately 10:00 AM Clay County Chief Deputy Clifton Jones and Deputy Wes Brumley arrested Sammy Wagers, 25 of Chop Bottom Road and Christopher Chapman, 27 of Manchester.

The arrest occurred when Chief Deputy Jones and Deputy Brumley was patrolling South Highway 11 when they observed a male subject extremely unsteady on his feet.

Contact was made with both subjects, through investigation it was determined both individuals were under the influence of intoxicants.

Upon search, Deputies located drug paraphernalia on both subjects.

Sammy Wagers was charged with:

• Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
• Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess

Christopher Chapman, 27 was charged with:

• Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
• Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess
