Police in Clay County arrest suspects & recover stolen items

Clay County, KY -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on June 28, 2019 at approximately 8:00 PM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Gary Banks, 30 of Robinson Creek Road and Lewis Day, 28 of Weatherstone Road.

The arrests occurred when Clay County Sheriff Public Affairs Officer Trent Baker observed a vehicle matching the description of a van used in a theft caught on camera earlier this date.

Deputy Baker followed the vehicle to a residence located on North Highway 421 where he contacted Deputy Houston and Manchester City Police Officer Ryan Jackson to conduct an investigation regarding the stolen items.

While on scene Deputy Houston and Officer Jackson located both subjects inside two different residences on a joining property.

While conducting the investigation units discovered several stolen items linked to two separate burglaries.

Gary Banks was charged with:

  • Receiving Stolen Property

Lewis Day was charged with:

  • Receiving Stolen Property
  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
