Theft suspect forcibly subdued during stolen vehicle recovery in Clay County

Clay County, KY - On June 28, 2019 at approximately 3:20 PM Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson, Clay County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Gabbard and Manchester City Police Detective Gary Jordan received an anonymous tip of a possible location of an F-250 that was stolen out of Laurel County.

Upon arrival Deputy Gabbard observed the vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle, with home owners consent Sheriff Robinson and Detective Jordan searched the residence where they located Mark Collins, 50 of London, Kentucky hiding in a bed room.

The subject refused to obey verbal commands to show his hands, Sheriff Robinson and Detective Jordan had to use force to subdue the subject.

The subject was taken into custody without further incident.

Through investigation it was confirmed by Clay County Dispatch that the vehicle was stolen and the subject mentioned had taken the vehicle. 

Mark Collins was charged with:

  • Receiving Stolen Property- Motor Vehicle
  • Resisting Arrest 
  • Menacing
