Arrest at two vehicle traffic crash scene in Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Jake Miller arrested Elbert North age 57 of London on Tuesday morning June 25, 2019 at approximately 10:44 AM.

The arrest occurred on Bullock Road, approximately 1 mile north of London while Deputy Miller was investigating a two vehicle traffic crash there.

During the investigation the driver of a blue Dodge Dakota was determined to be under the influence, was found in possession of a controlled substance, and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Elbert North was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Possession of a controlled substance – third-degree
  • Careless driving
  • Operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license
  • Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense
  • No registration plates and other violations
  • A Knox District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of shoplifting under $500 and numerous other violations.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Corrections Center.
