Complaint of a Mustang wrecked in a ditch / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: On March 15, 2019 at approximately 8:30 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputies Cody Blackwell and Brandon Edwards arrested an individual after being dispatched to a complaint.

Arrested was:

James Newsome age 39 of Baker Hill Road.

The arrest occurred on Sester Hollow when Deputies was dispatched to a complaint of a Mustang wrecked in a ditch, upon arrival Deputies came in contact with the above mentioned subject and he was very unsteady on his feet and showed signs of impairment.

Deputies conducted standardized field sobriety testing on the subject in which time they determined the subject was manifestly under the influence. Upon running the subject’s information with Clay County Dispatch it was confirmed he had an active warrant for his arrest out of Laurel County District Court.

The subject was transported to AdventHealth Manchester where he refused to submit to a blood test.

James Newsome was charged with:

  • Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence ALC/DRUGS/ETC. .08 1st Offense
  • No Registration Plates
  • Failure to Produce Insurance Card
  • License to be in Possession
  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
