Employee threatened with knife inside store / Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Scott along with Sgt. John Inman and Deputy Josh Morgan with assistance from Williamsburg Police Department arrested Brad M. Lovitt age 23 of Williamsburg early Tuesday morning March 5, 2019 at approximately 5:57 AM.

The arrest occurred after deputies were dispatched to a fight in progress involving a knife inside Walmart in southern Laurel County.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that allegedly Lovitt created a disturbance by arguing with a female subject (the mother of his daughter) who was also an employee there.

The store manager was contacted to have Lovitt removed from the store. Lovitt then apparently argued with the store manager and assaulted him.

An employee there attempted to assist the manager pulling Lovitt off the manager when Lovitt pulled a knife and held it to the employee’s neck stating he would kill everyone in there over his child.

Lovitt then fled the scene but was captured a short time later by Williamsburg Police Department and brought back to Laurel County where he was charged by Laurel County deputies with three counts of terroristic threatening – third-degree; assault – 4th degree; wanton endangerment – first-degree; assault – second-degree.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
