Laurel & Whitley County Pursuit Ends With Stolen Vehicle Recovery

London, Ky. (March 1st, 2019) - On Friday March 1st 2019 around 12:00 A.M. officer Mark Scott with Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement attempted to stop a 2017 Mitsubishi passenger car on I-75 near the 33 mile marker in Laurel Co. Kentucky.

Upon activation of emergency equipment the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed leading officer Scott on a pursuit through Laurel and Whitley Counties.

The pursuit continued down I-75 to Williamsburg were officers learned that the vehicle was reported stolen thru the state of Michigan.

Assisting officers deployed stinger spike strips and successfully deflated the suspect vehicles tires. The stolen vehicle continued a short distance to exit #11 and then turned westbound onto KY 92.

A short distance later the vehicle lost control leaving the roadway and crashing into a ditch.

A short foot pursuit took place and Officer Scott was able to apprehend 18 year old Harold Summers of Burton, Michigan.

Summers was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on charges of:

  • Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Motor Vehicle
  • Fleeing or evading police 2nd on Foot
  • Improper Use of Left Lane
  • Reckless Driving
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Operating with No License
  • Assisting on scene: Vehicle Enforcement officer, Kentucky State Police, Williamsburg Police and Whitley Co Sheriff's Department.

    Officer Mark Scott continues the investigation.
