Traffic Stop results in 3 arrests / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. - Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on February 18, 2019 at approximately 3:00 AM Clay County Deputy Sheriff Brandon Edwards observed a black Chevy Cavalier driving on Paces Creek Road operating with one headlight.

When Deputy Edwards turned on his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop he observed the vehicle travel past him occupied two times.

When Deputy Edwards caught back up to the vehicle it was around the 1200 block of Paces Creek Road, it was only occupied by the driver.

The passenger of the vehicle had fled the scene upon arrival of the Deputy.

Once contact was made with the driver, the driver had slurred speech and once a field sobriety test was conducted the driver showed signs of impairment.

The driver gave consent of search of the vehicle and Deputy Edwards found a glass pipe that had white residue inside it.

Through investigation Deputy Edwards found the name and location of the passenger of the vehicle, Deputy Edwards located the subject in a house next to where the vehicle had came to a rest.

Once contact was made with the passenger and her information was ran through Clay County 911 it was confirmed she had numerous warrants out for her arrest.

The information on the homeowner who allowed her to come inside the residence was also ran and it was confirmed she had a warrant out for her arrest also.

The driver, Anthony Doan age 34 of Muddy Gap -charged with:

  • Driving Under the Influence of ALC/DRUGS/ETC. .08
  • One Headlight
  • Drug Paraphernalia Buy/Possess
  • The passenger, Jessica Barrett age 30 of London -charged with:

  • Clay County District Court Warrant
  • Clay County District Court Warrant
  • Laurel County Indictment Warrant
  • Laurel County Indictment Warrant
  • Fleeing or Evading Police (On Foot)
  • The homeowner, Crystal Broughton age 36 of Paces Creek Road -charged with:

  • Knox County District Court Warrant
