Arrest - Multiple Threats on Social Media / Laurel County

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Kyle Gray along with other members of the Laurel County Sheriff’s office arrested Robert S. Jones age 43 of London early Thursday morning February 14, 2019 at approximately 12:27 AM.

The arrest occurred off Tomcat Trail, approximately 8 miles east of London after the Sheriff’s office traveled to Jones’s residence there to serve a felony arrest warrant.

Upon arrival at the scene it was determined that this individual was creating a disturbance allegedly making numerous citizens fear for their safety.

Upon arrest, this subject became irate failing to respond to commands from arresting officers and scuffled with officers before being taken into custody. In addition, this subject was found in possession of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine, a glass pipe with residue believed to be methamphetamine, snorting straws, several hand guns and long guns.

Robert S. Jones was charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest obtained by Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Chris Edwards charging intimidating a participant in the legal process; and 13 counts of terroristic threatening – third-degree regarding an investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s office regarding Jones traveling to the Laurel County Sheriff’s office earlier attempting to persuade Laurel County Sheriff John Root to have charges against him dropped including operating a motor vehicle under the influence. Sheriff Root refused to do so and had to ask the offender to leave the office.

Since that time and including the past two days, this subject has made multiple threats on social media indicating threats to officers that were on the scene of his arrest and again to the Sheriff himself and two other persons to whom he has had a relationship with.

In addition, this subject was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; disorderly conduct – second-degree; resisting arrest.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
