PSA: Clay County Cooperative Extension Service programs for February, 2019



MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Cooperative Extension Service upcoming programs for February, 2019.

♦4-H Crafty Artists will be on Thursday, February 7th from 4:30-5:30 pm at the Clay County Extension Office.  Come and join us for some Valentine’s Day fun! Participants will create a textured color collage and a tissue paper sun catcher. Items can be used as a gift, for the home, or entered for 4-H Project Day in July. FREE & open to all youth ages 9-18. Please call 598-2789 to register by February 5th.

♦4-H Chefs in Training will be on Monday, February 11th from 4:30-5:30 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Join us & create a Valentine’s Day treat - Jackpot Drop Cookies. What will you gain? *New interests *Basic cooking skills *Kitchen safety *Meet new friends. FREE & open to all youth ages 8-14 years of age.  You must call 598-2789 to register by February 7th.

♦Flavorful Nuts will be February 12th at 6:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office.  Thinking of adding more nuts to your diet for flavor or nutrition? Come learn about how nuts can impact your health and how you can add small amounts of nuts for big impacts. We will sample some of our favorite nuts.  Program is FREE and open to the public, but you must call 598-2789 to register.

♦Our next 4-H Teen Club meeting will be on February 18th at 5:30 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. This club is open to middle school aged and high school aged students interested in developing leadership skills and enjoy working to better the community and 4-H! This club is a good way to meet new people, attend leadership events, become a camp counselor and help your community!  Call Alissa at 598-2789 for more information on joining the 4-H Teen Club.

♦University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service will offer a series of free webinars, Getting to Know Your Woodlands: A Primer for Beginners. Each session will last from 7 - 9 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. The goal of the web-based series is to empower woodland owners to promote environmental and forest health through increased awareness, experience and access to resources.  The technology allows participants at each site to ask questions of the experts.  This is an excellent opportunity for people to receive a significant amount of information in a relatively short time without having to drive great distances to attend.  Kentucky Master Loggers can also receive two continuing education credits for each session they attend. February 21st will be Getting to Know Your Woodlands. February 28th will be Managing Your Woodlands. March 14th will be Wildlife and Woodlands. March 21st will be Forestry and Wildlife Assistance in Kentucky.  Interested participants may register by calling the Extension Office at 598-2789. FREE & open to the public!

A Year of Recipes will be February 22nd from 12:00-1:00 pm at the Clay County Extension Office.  The new calendar is here and we are starting our year off with two recipes from the calendar that are easy to prepare and nutritious for you.  The program is FREE and open to the public, but you must call 598-2789 to register.

Air Fryer will be February 26th from 5:30-6:30 pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Do you have an air fryer that you haven’t gotten out of the box?  Come learn how to use this small kitchen appliance and sample different foods prepared in the air fryer.  Program is FREE and open to the public, but you must call 598-2789 to register.

♦Stay Healthy, Stay Happy will be on February 27th at 10:00 am at the Clay County Extension Office.  Rebecca Miller will be teaching this program for us.  How can we stay healthy and happy?  Rebecca will share this information with us.  This is the leaders training for March.  This class is FREE and open to the public, but please call 598-2789 to register.

Plate It Up Cooking School will be held February 28th at the Clay County Extension Office.  This will be a fun evening of sampling two recipes from Plate It Up and learning how they can be grown and prepared in Kentucky gardens.   Program is FREE and open to the public, but you must call 598-2789 to register.
