Victim airlifted following accidental shooting / Laurel County


Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller along with Sgt. Greg Poynter are investigating an apparent accidental shooting which occurred off Parman Road approximately 7 miles southeast of London on Thursday night December 13, 2018 at approximately 7:40 PM.

Investigating deputies report that apparently a 36-year-old male from Keavy was hunting with other individuals when his dog treed a coon and as the hunter was attempting separate the dog from the coon, his 22 rifle accidentally discharged striking him in the stomach.

The victim was airlifted to UK Medical Center in Lexington for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Assisting at the scene was London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Bush Volunteer Fire Dept., and PHI Helicopter.
