Background info from earlier news release:

Joint cooperative effort between London City Police and the Laurel County Sheriff's Office results in 4 arrests following a pursuit of a theft suspect through London:

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joey Robinson charged Tabatha Borborema age 27 of Burlington New Jersey with criminal possession of a forged instrument – first-degree; theft of identity of another without consent. The charges were the result of four suspects being arrested following a pursuit through London from the KY 192 bypass to East 4th St. on Monday morning Nov. 26, 2018 at approx. 11:58 A.M.

The incident began when Deputy Robinson received a phone call through 911 dispatch from a female victim that someone had tried to cash a check stolen recently from her at an exercise gym in southern Laurel County. The bank there refused to cash the check.

Deputy Robinson proceeded to the bank on Spring Street in London to review video footage of the suspect. While Deputy Robinson was at the bank reviewing the video, an associated bank on the Ky. 192 bypass sent a message to the teller that Robinson was working with advising that the same vehicle was at the 192 branch trying to cash the same stolen check.

Deputy Robinson then notified 911 dispatch to have law-enforcement respond to the bank on Ky. 192 to investigate the individuals there attempting to cash the same stolen check. 911 dispatch alerted London City Police and Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies who proceeded to the bank making contact with the three male subjects and one female subject in a black minivan.

The minivan attempted to flee pinning 2 London City Police Officers into a concrete wall and the minivan fled through London to Fourth Street near the railroad tracks that were under construction, where the pursuit was brought to a conclusion and the 4 suspects attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended by London City Police officers and Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies.

During the arrests of suspects, Laurel Sheriff’s Maj. Chuck Johnson was injured. He was later treated and released from St. Joseph Hospital London.

All four suspects were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
