Two subjects facing multiple charges in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Taylor McDaniel along with Deputy Allen Turner arrested two individuals off Ray Johnson Road, approximately 6 miles northeast of London on Thursday afternoon November 7, 2018 at approximately 1:02 PM.

The arrests occurred after deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint there involving a female victim and upon arrival at the scene and while conducting an investigation one of two male subjects fled out the back door of the residence during questioning and following a short foot chase was taken into custody following a brief struggle with deputies.

The other male subject was found to have an outstanding bench warrant of arrest and found in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

The individual that fled – Christopher Mays age 34 of Ray Johnson Road, East Bernstadt, charged with assault – 4th degree – domestic violence; fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot; public intoxication – controlled substances; disorderly conduct – second-degree. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of knowingly fraudulently using ID card or electronic code for benefits; custodial interference – felony. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operator's license and failure to wear seatbelts. In addition, this subject was charged on another Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of operating on suspended or revoked operator's license and speeding.

Jason M. Mays age 33 of Ray Johnson Road, East Bernstadt, charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine during arrest on a bench warrant this subject was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of careless driving; no operator's license.

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
