Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested James W. Spalding age 61 of Corbin on Thursday night November 1, 2018 at approximately 7:10 PM.
The arrest occurred on US 25 approximately 9 miles South of London while Deputy Cloyd was investigating a single vehicle traffic crash involving a gray Chevrolet Silverado which had apparently drove into a stop sign and ditch line there.
Deputy Cloyd conducted an investigation on the driver after detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver and determined following his investigation that the driver was under the influence.
James Spalding was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; license to be in possession; failure to produce insurance card; and other violations and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
