Fatality crash in Laurel County on I-75

Laurel County, Ky. -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Grigsby along with Deputy Rick Cloyd investigated a single vehicle single fatality traffic crash which occurred on I-75 approximately 7 miles north of London in the southbound lane near the 48 mile marker on Thursday afternoon 8-16-18 at approx.1:52 P.M..

The investigating deputies report that apparently a 1993 Dodge Dakota pickup was traveling southbound reportedly driving at a high rate of speed, and passing vehicles on the right shoulder just prior to the collision according to witnesses statements.

The vehicle apparently ran off the roadway out of control traveling into the median striking the chain divider fence ejecting the driver.

The driver was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London where he was pronounced deceased. He was the only occupant.

The driver was identified as:

Thomas C. Stokes age 28 of Mobile, Alabama.

Assisting at the scene of the crash and on the investigation was: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue squad, Laurel County Volunteer Fire Department, East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department, Laurel County Department of Public Safety, and the Laurel County Coroner's office.
