Corbin, KY Woman Sentenced after Guilty Plea in Fatal U.S. 25 Traffic Crash Case in Laurel County

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Danielle Kelly age 41 of Corbin, sentenced after guilty plea to charges in Laurel Circuit Court regarding a fatal traffic crash involving three vehicles that occurred on US 25 approximately 6 miles South of London on September 14, 2021.

In that crash, a Trail Blazer, allegedly driven by Danielle Kelly was traveling southbound on US 25 and crossed over into the northbound lane sideswiping a northbound van. The Trail Blazer then continued in the northbound lane striking a Chevrolet Tahoe head-on.

The roadway was shut down for three hours while Sheriff's investigators conducted a reconstruction of the crash site.

A total of four persons were airlifted from the scene to UK Medical Center in Lexington with serious injuries.

The driver of the trailblazer was identified as Danielle Marie Kelly age 41 of Corbin, KY. The adult passenger in that vehicle, Tiffany Smith age 44 of London, KY was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased a short time later.

Danielle Kelly was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to the vehicular homicide:

  • While under the influence of drugs
  • Three counts of assault – first-degree

The traffic crash reconstruction and court presentation was conducted by Laurel Sheriff's Reconstructionist Deputy Brad Mink.
