Home Invasion arrest / Laurel County

Laurel County, KY -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jake Miller along with Deputy Brad Mink and Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested John Collins age 33 of Johnson Addition, London on Saturday afternoon August 4, 2018 at approximately 12:48 PM.

The arrest occurred off Blackberry Lane approximately 5 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a home invasion there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies located this individual unlawfully inside the residence there and learned through investigation that this subject had allegedly entered the residence without permission. Once inside the residence this subject had shoved a dresser in front of the door causing damage.

Two teenagers were home at the time -a male teenager who hid upstairs and a 14-year-old female who hid in a closet downstairs and had called Laurel 911 dispatch center from there advising an intruder was in the residence.

Sheriff's deputies arrested the male subject determining that he was very much under the influence of some type of drug. The subject stated that he was running from people that was chasing him.

John Collins was charged with burglary – second degree; public intoxication – controlled substances: criminal mischief – third-degree.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
