Bell County Fatal Collision



Calvin, Ky. (June 30, 2018) - On June 29, 2018 at approximately 9:15 p.m. Bell County Dispatch received a call of a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle on KY1344 in the Hances Creek area.  Deputies with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office along with KSP Tpr, Josh Messer and Tpr. Taylor Mills also responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the operator of the motorcycle identified as, Charles Wayne Boatwright (45) of Miracle was traveling east on KY1344 near the three mile marker on a 2004 Kawasaki when he crossed the center line and briefly exiting the roadway before overcorrecting causing the collision. The motorcycle and operator crossed the center line again striking a wooden fence on the east bound side of KY1344 before coming to final rest. Mr. Boatwright was the only occupant of the motorcycle.

Bell County EMS was dispatched and arrived on scene at 9:28PM. Bell County Coroner Jay Steele was also notified and responded to the scene. Mr. Boatwright was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mr. Boatwright wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time.

Also assisting at the scene were Bell County Volunteer Fire Dept, Bell County Sheriff’s Deputies, Bell County EMS, Coroner Jay Steele, and KSP Tpr. Taylor Mills.

Collision is still under investigation by Tpr. Josh Messer.
